It may be the case you have a few cages but you’re not sure how best to lay them out. We can design a layout that works best for you at no additional cost. We’ll speak to you to learn what your requirements are. It may be you want to be able to sleep in your car or van and so need a bed added. Or maybe you need a storage area to put away dog food, water bowls, leashes or your own personal items. We can build a bespoke dog cage in your car to suit you.

Below are just a few specifications we’ve been asked to work to. If you have a completely unique idea of how you want your custom built dog cage to fit into your vehicle, you just need to give us a quick call. As vehicle specialists also, we can adapt and modify the vehicle to suit you and your dog’s needs.
Bedding for you
Having a comfortable bed in the vehicle so you can stay with your pooch overnight, safely. Custom built beds for humans.
Extra storage space
Additional storage for dog treats, leads etc. A separate storage unit for personal belongings which can be locked securely
Inside access to dogs
Inside access to dog cages as well as from the outside. For those times you need to get to your pup without having to leave the vehicle.
Theft prevention
Secure lock to prevent any theft of your belongings inside the vehicle, including your dogs. We have features that allow you to open your van and not have to worry about the dog’s safety.
Colours
Any colour that you like can be painted on the cages to match the colour of the dog owner’s personality. Bright pink, purple, blue, charcoal grey, baby yellow… you name it, we’ll make it.
Light fittings
We can install led strip lighting, for those darker mornings and evenings. We can also install power points, inverters, split charge systems and electric fans. Making your van practical and comfortable.

We offer different types of matting to suit you and your dog’s personality such as paw print matting. We also offer roof vents, jump boards, door guards and additional storage units for your vehicle. To top this off, we know that having a colour that suits you is something many dog owners like to choose, so we offer a wide range of colours to give it that personal feel.

How does it all work
How we work with you to complete your customised dog cage.
We need to first work out what space you are looking to fill. We help you to spec out the vehicle and work with you to design a concept that will work for both you and your dogs. From then on, we will build the dog cage frame on our premises. We will arrange with you when to drop your vehicle and collect it so that we have time to build and install the bespoke dog cage safely into the vehicle.
DEFRA Approved high quality custom dog cage builds
We passed the DEFRA test with flying colours thanks to the high standards we always follow.
A fair few customers who use us require their vans (such as a Peugeot Partner, Ford Transit Custom or a Volkswagen Transporter) to be kitted out for commercial purposes. They have a dog walking business, or offer a dog carrier business where they take dogs to the vets, or abroad.

Below are a few questions on our bespoke dog car cages we get asked regularly. If you have more questions you can contact us.
What type of materials do you use for the dog cages?
We use steel for the mesh of the cages. However we ensure that we spray paint the steel to high quality finish to prevent rust and wear. We can a variety of mesh sizes depending on the needs of the owner and to ensure the dogs don’t bite into the steel itself.
What information do you need from me to get started?
We will need the following information to hand:
1) Vehicle make, model and year
2) Desired cage layout – if you need help with this call us
3) The size of your dogs. Dogs can vary in size, so it would be ideal if you could measure your dogs whilst it is standing, from foot to head. The length of the dog is also very helpful fo us to calculate the depth of the cage required.
What colours are available?
We can make pretty much any colour you like! We don’t shy away from a challenge! We’ve been to paint the cages a bright green, purple, bright pink, black, silver, grey, royal blue, bright blue, yellow and orange so far.
What areas in the UK do you cover?
Primarily we cover the East Midlands area but we have been known to send Mike Bunday on adventures across the South of England and through the Midlands. Mike is used to travelling as part of his old career fixing all types of transport vehicles (including lorries, cans, golf caddies and more) so if you are from further and beyond don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can pack him some sandwiches.
What payment type do you accept?
We are happy to accept the following:

How long does a build take to complete?
It varies depending on the complexity of the project but for a simple cage build we would need just under a week to ensure we provide a high quality finish and allow for the paint to dry.
Do you need to keep my vehicle?
Yes we will need your vehicle for the duration of the build. Everything is custom built for each vehicle, therefore we will need to keep your vehicle to measure up and install.
Are colours an additional cost?
No, the colours are included in the price, regardless of what colour you choose.
Do you build crates for home use?
Yes we do. We can build to your measurements and arrange delivery for you. Contact us with measurements to hand and we will give you a quote.

What a brilliant guy Mike is. He can build anything you want. I explained to him what we wanted and he also offered us some great advice. I’m absolutely over the moon with my fitted crates by Mike at Canine Cage Craft. His work is of such high quality and his prices are extremely competitive. He was actually the cheapest I could find, but in my opinion the best finish! Absolutely outstanding job; 3 large cages fitted into my Nissan Juke for my dog walking business. Incredibly well built, every inch of space was put to use and the quality is outstanding.
